Many of the 29 chihuahuas that were rescued from a home last week Wednesday will soon be available for adoption. The dogs's owner agreed to relinquish custody of the dogs to Multnomah County Animal Services on Thursday, September 26th. Since that time, shelter staff has been working on assessing their behavior and medical status.
The first six chihuahuas will be available for adoption on Wednesday, October 2nd when the shelter opens at noon.
Some of the chihuahuas will be transferred to adoption placement partners. Family Dogs New Life and OHS have both graciously offered to take some of the dogs. Two of the dogs have very young puppies and may require foster care before becoming available.
Photos and information about specific chihuahuas will be available in the "Adoptable" section of our web site on Tuesday night.
