Fundraiser Held in Memory of Juniper (Junie)
Belmont Station is a popular Portland bottle shop and beer bar on Southeast Stark and 45th Ave owned by Lisa “The Beer Goddess” Morrison, her husband, Multnomah County Chief Financial Officer Mark Campbell, and their business partner, Carl Singmaster.
Lisa and Mark adopted a senior dog named Juniper (Junie) from Multnomah County Animal Services, and wanted to support shelter pets with a fundraiser in her memory.
When Junie came to MCAS, she had lost most of her gorgeous red coat on her back because she was found in East County with her coat very matted and had to be shaved. Lisa and Mark adopted her in this sad state, and when they brought her home, they soon discovered that she had incontinence and blood in her urine.
A quick trip to the vet to check things out brought horrible news: Junie had bladder cancer and was given only an estimated seven weeks to live.
Because they had just adopted her, Mark and Lisa had the option to send Junie back to the shelter, but they decided to give this sweet, senior dog a home to live out her final days. Not only did Junie live for another three years, she thrived! Her fur grew back in all its lustrous glory, she enjoyed countless beach and city walks as well as spending many hours hanging out at home with Mark, Lisa and her dog-sister,Yeti.
"Junie enriched our lives so much," Lisa says. "She was a fierce fighter who loved life, and we love and miss her very much to this day. We are thrilled to be able to give back to MCAS in hopes that other pets have a chance at finding their forever homes."
Thank you, Lisa, Mark, Carl, the Belmont Station team, and Lagunitas Brewing for supporting shelter pets at Multnomah County Animal Services in memory of Juniper!
