Pitbull mix

Thanks to the good Samaritan who noticed the small, black pitbull wandering the freeway, the little dog is safe tonight. She was found on 205-SB by Multnomah County Animal Services Field Officer Rose and was taken to Mt. Scott Animal Clinic. After being examined, the dog was released back to Multnomah County Animal Services, where she is now resting quietly after her harrowing experience.

Tequila, a pit bull

As 2009 comes to a close at the Multnomah County Animal Shelter, staff and volunteers celebrate a bittersweet event. This week, their longest shelter resident, a tawny-brown pit bull named Tequila, has found a forever home after an incredible seven months care at the County shelter in Troutdale.

Multnomah County Animal Services has rescued 23 dogs, including four infant puppies and one expectant female, from a facility in Northeast Portland that failed to provide adequate care as required by the county ordinance governing animal facilities.

Arianne Melton, a Gresham teen who started a nonprofit group called Help Shelter Animals Stay Happy, is collecting cat food for the Multnomah County Animal Shelter in Troutdale.

I just wanted to update everyone who was involved on the outcome of the effort to rescue three baby raccoons. This is a long saga, but it has a very happy ending!

When Dolly the Dachshund arrived at Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS), she exhibited signs of severe animal mistreatment and neglect. But despite her obvious medical problems, MCAS staff and their veterinary hospital team were immediately captivated by Dolly’s spirit.
