Petco Foundation Invests in Lifesaving Work of MCAS
Grant of $1,000 will extend efforts to save more animal lives in Multnomah County
Troutdale, OR (January 24, 2020) – Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS) announced it has been awarded a $1,000 lifesaving grant from the Petco Foundation to support its medical fund for shelter animals – Dolly’s Fund, and its Adoption Outreach Fund.
The Petco Foundation investment will help to provide medical care for animals in need of emergency surgeries, and veterinary care for injured animals rescued by Animal Services Officers or brought to the shelter as strays by members of the public. It will also prepare and promote animals for adoption if owners don’t come forward to claim them during their stray-hold time, providing positive outcomes and new adoptive homes for shelter pets.
“We are grateful for the support of the Petco Foundation to rehabilitate and meet the medical needs of the stray animals of our community and support lifesaving outcomes through adoption,” said Wade Sadler, Interim Director of Animal Services at Multnomah County Animal Services.
Through the support of lifesaving grants like this, its partnership in the Animal Shelter Alliance of Portland (ASAP), and dedicated community supporters contributing their time and resources to serve animals at the shelter, MCAS has achieved a live-release rate of 91% for domestic animals in its care.
